Mumbai, March 8, 2013: L&T Integrated Engineering Services (IES) recently inaugurated its Offshore Development Centre (ODC) for Calsonic Kansei (CK) at Chennai. This partnership initiative called Calsonic Kansei Engineering Centre India-L&T (CECI-L&T) will extend CK’s presence in India by replicating their engineering function to support project development.
Over the initial phase of five years, CECI-L&T will focus on expansion and optimization of activities in this facility. CECI-L&T will be one of the largest Global engineering centre for CK outside, and will provide value efficiency and support to make this ODC a Global Development centre that functions as an advance development facility for CK.
Mr. Shigeo Shingyoji, EVP and Board Member of Calsonic Kansei Corporation, who is the CK’s Executive Sponsor for CECI-L&T, while inaugurating the facility said, “We have launched our mid-term plan; called GX4T10, which implies that CK wants to be top 10 global-automotive-component supplier through this mid-term plan, which consist of 4 Gs, Green Technologies, Growth in business, Globalization, and Great as to be a truly Great Company for all CK stakeholders. L&T IES’ partnership with CK is an enablement of business opportunity in the southern capital of India giving an immediate prospect for a geographical uplift. This strategic initiative will focus closely to support CK’s Indian customers. L&T IES will facilitate the ODC with test labs and advance functional areas over the period of time. L&T IES’ bilingual engineers are the mainstay feature of this project.
The progress made in a short span of time has been impressive to establish core function teams at CECI-L&T including design and analysis, material research, supplier localization and global process standardization.
