13th Annual Conference OFC Networks in India
Optical Fiber Cables (OFC), leveraging fast-traveling pulses of light, play a key role in enabling broadband coverage – especially in rural and remote areas. A robust OFC network is crucial for ensuring wider data coverage, connectivity, and access.
The Government of India, through its initiatives like Digital India, BharatNet, and the National Broadband Mission, is focusing on increasing India's OFC coverage to ensure nationwide, seamless data connectivity. This involves enabling a wider and more reliable broadband access for a larger population, and is expected to boost the demand for OFC in the country.
To enable the upcoming 5G networks and facilitate the deployment of edge data centers, small cells, and more, India needs to extend fiber coverage by over 3.5 million kilometers across the country between FY 202-2025. Nationwide tower site fiberization must also increase from the current 35 percent to at least 70 percent to fully harness the potential of 5G.
The objective of the conference is to emphasize the importance of OFC in scaling up 5G coverage. It aims to discuss emerging growth drivers and opportunities, outline potential business models and applications, and analyze the impact of key government and private sector initiatives.
The conference will also showcase innovative technologies and promising advancements in this field. It will provide a platform for telecom service providers, tower companies, policymakers, OFC manufacturers, and technology providers to share their experiences and exchange ideas.
L Murali Madhavan, CTO of NEXT GEN COMMUNICATIONS, will be a speaker from LTTS at this event.
