Continuous Integration (CI) is a methodology, a mind-set change and a leadership practice that focuses on how to achieve rapid building, testing and delivery throughout the software development lifecycle. This relies on the adoption of automation to streamline manual processes and enforce consistency for frequently repeated tasks in the software delivery pipeline.
This paper demonstrates the steps and advantages of implementing a “Continuous Integration — Build, Test & Delivery (CI-BTD)” framework in the automotive industry to describe how Continuous Integration can be used to turn manual processes to an automated manner for faster and reliable results.
This will enable automatic generation of the artefacts for the compliance with ISO26262 functional safety standard, part 6 – Product development at the software level that results in savings of about 70% of manual effort during the implementation and testing stages on the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
